This past summer has, indubitably, been one of the best, most memorable summers of my life.
I learned a lot, grew a lot, met a lot of fantastic human beings, and over all loved it.
For those of youwho don't know, I spent my summer working as a rover at a backcountry lodge (the Kantishna Roadhouse) in Denali National Park.
Since I've been back in what we came to refer to as the refer to as "the real world" people have been asking me to tell them all about it. I've been trying, but somehow it's hard to recount the magic of this summer...the late night walks/bikes to DBL, hanging out at the end of the nature trail, game and movie nights in the cache, the swarms of mosquitos, the panic of serving breakfast when the entire camp is devoid of dairy products, housekeeping, days off, Bartender Kyle, hiking whenever you have a few hours to spare, birthday parties, Christmahannakwanzaaween, blueberry picking, swimming in Wonder Lake with breathtaking views of Denali, Bulgarians, parties at the airstrip...I could go on.
Nonetheless, I don't want to forget a single moment of this summer.
Therefore, more for my own sake and for posterity, I have decided to blog about a few of the things that really hit me this summer.
Feel free to read my musings (which will hopefully be up within the next week or so!), and I'm sorry for my overly sentimental ramblings!
